Many people think that chiropractic care and physical therapy are just for injuries or back pain. But regular treatments and therapies can help keep you well, and prevent you from becoming injured. When you do experience pain or injury, conservative care is often the first line of effective treatment, saving you time and money on ineffective and costly medical procedures.

NYDNR is Manhattan’s leading clinic for therapy and rehabilitation, offering innovative treatment methods and high-tech solutions to keep you strong and healthy so you can enjoy life to the fullest. Here are just some of our leading treatment methods:

Chiropractic Care: Your spinal column serves as an important conduit for messages traveling to and from your brain via your nervous system. A healthy spine helps you function at your best, both physically and mentally. Regular chiropractic care is a great way to keep yourself in top health at any age.

Physical Therapy: Your body is essentially a biomechanical system of levers, designed to work in specific ways, like a well-oiled machine. When your body gets out of balance due to disuse, misuse or overuse, physical therapy can help restore balance, keeping you tuned up and humming along.

Women’s Health: The unique reproductive capabilities of the female body make women’s health a necessity if you are to survive the rigors of childbearing with minimal wear and tear. We specialize in prenatal and postpartum care, including diastais recti and other unique issues that affect the female body.

Athletic Injury Rehab: An athletic injury can be career-ending, especially if not properly rehabilitated. We work with athletes, parents and coaches to ensure that each athlete is given individualized treatment. Our use of cutting edge technologies and innovative treatment methods helps us ensure that each athlete returns to play with improved performance and minimal risk of re-injury.

Gait Analysis and Retraining: From older adults with balance issues to elite runners who want to perform better, the gait analysis lab at NYDNR can identify gait deficiencies that put you at risk for injury, and retrain your neuromuscular system to perform more efficiently during walking and running.

High Resolution Real Time Ultrasound: Used for diagnosis, monitoring progress and guiding procedures, high resolution ultrasound lets us view the inner workings of your body in motion while you provide feedback.

C.A.R.E.N: Our computer-assisted virtual reality environment engages you in physical activity while providing feedback about motor skills and performance. Used for rehab, balance training and more, C.A.R.E.N offers a unique rehabilitation experience you won’t find in most clinics.

ESWT: Certain types of body tissues are slow to heal due to limited blood supply, and scar tissue can restrict movement and cause discomfort. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy is a noninvasive treatment that stimulates new cell growth and breaks up scar tissue, so healthy functional tissue can thrive.

DNS: Dynamic neuromuscular stabilization taps into your body’s innate developmental motor patterns to restore and retrain functional movement after injury or overuse.

Ultrasound Guided Dry Needling: By inserting thin needles into trigger points or damaged connective tissue, dry needling relaxes tense muscles and speeds up healing of damaged tissues using the precise guidance of high resolution ultrasound.

The above listed services are only a handful of the many tools we use at NYDNR to restore healthy function and keep you well. Contact NYDNR today and see what our top-notch team can do for you!

In this instance, an athlete was originally diagnosed with minor quadriceps muscle strain and was treated for four weeks, with unsatisfactory results. When he came to our clinic, the muscle was not healing, and the patients’ muscle tissue had already begun to atrophy.

Upon examination using MSUS, we discovered that he had a full muscle thickness tear that had been overlooked by his previous provider. To mitigate damage and promote healing, surgery should have been performed immediately after the injury occurred. Because of misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment, the patient now has permanent damage that cannot be corrected.

The most important advantage of Ultrasound over MRI imaging is its ability to zero in on the symptomatic region and obtain imaging, with active participation and feedback from the patient. Using dynamic MSUS, we can see what happens when patients contract their muscles, something that cannot be done with MRI. From a diagnostic perspective, this interaction is invaluable.

Dynamic ultrasonography examination demonstrating
the full thickness tear and already occurring muscle atrophy
due to misdiagnosis and not referring the patient
to proper diagnostic workup

Demonstration of how very small muscle defect is made and revealed
to be a complete tear with muscle contraction
under diagnostic sonography (not possible with MRI)
